My mother has taught me not to desecrateThe sanctity of the dining table.
Do not fight around it, Do not put the feet upon it,
And do not play with the food.
The dining table is sacred.
This is where we come to unite with the four elements:
The earth energy (wheat, fruits and vegetables),
The air (the aroma of the food),
The fire (the cooked food, the Shabbat candles),And the water, (the drinks, the wine). Therefore the table is a place of thanksgiving and unity. It feeds all the children of the earth.
The food is nurturing the body, And the gratitude is nurturing the soul.
In Ladino she bless quietly, at the table: “Ke no moz manke los Crios” (may the children never be absent )
